I am interested in the professional practice of architecture because I want to better understand
how design ideas are applied and manipulated in a real-world setting. In architecture school, we
primarily focus on the creative and conceptual aspects of design, which are incredibly important, however, I would like to expand my knowledge beyond educational studio work and gain insight into how projects are actually executed in professional settings. I am particularly interested in the behind-the-scenes processes that shape real world projects, including client communication, project management, consultant coordination, and building codes. These elements are essential to turning strong design concepts into successful built projects. Understanding the business side of architecture and how firms operate will allow me to see the profession more holistically. By learning more about professional practice, I hope to strengthen my ability to balance
creativity with practicality, which will give me a broader perspective that will help me grow into a more well-rounded architect.
